Meet Our Pastor

We are so glad that you are looking at our website.   We would welcome anyone to join our church family for a time of Worship on Sunday morning or any of our other weekly activities.   At Newberrytown Church of God we want to love God and love people.  If you ever want to chat just contact me.

 

If you wanted any background about me.  I attended Messiah College (BA in Psychology with a minor in Biblical Studies), then Winebrenner Theological Seminary (Master’s of Divinity with a concentration in Pastoral Care and Counseling).   I previously served congregations at Green Spring and South Fairview and have been an ordained minister in the Churches of God General Conference since 2002. 

 

My wife Michele teaches 7th grade math at South Western School District.  She has a BS in Education from Messiah College and Masters from Penn State. We are blessed to have 3 children, Kameron, Jack and Mary.

I look forward to getting to know you as we all get to know God better.   My goal is for all of us working together to promote the Kingdom of God at the Newberrytown Church of God.

I think that God has a plan for your life.  He wants to use your gifts and talents for building his kingdom.  God created you, he loves you and he wants you to know him.    It would be my honor and privilege to speak to you about the God, his word, or any questions you have.   Please always feel free to contact me.

Here at Newberrytown Church of God, we truly believe that it is very important for Christians to share life with other believers to help push us all to grow closer to God. We have a number of different ways to help facilitate that.

 

We have several mid-week chances to gather together to fellowship, support each other, and learn more about God and his Word.

 

Tuesdays  10 AM & 7 PM  Ladies Bible Study     This class provides all women a safe place to share, fellowship, and learn more about how God wants us to live. It is led by Lou Ann Kauffman.

   

Wednesday 6 PM   Pastor’s Bible Study    This is an in-depth look into the Gospel of Matthew that meets in the Conference room of the Annex.  We explore how the Word of God applies to life.   We go where the class discussion takes us in light of God’s Word.  No question or topic is off limits.   Our goal is to help all of us move from where we are to where God can take us to be in a safe and loving environment where real answers and concerns can be addressed.  This group is led by Pastor Bowers

Another wonderful way to help us all grow is Sunday School which meets each Sunday at 10:10 AM.  Classes change over time, so ask the Pastor about current ones.  This can be among the most beneficial ways to grow closer to God and each other.  We would love for you to join one of our classes that are currently being offered.

We also offer Nursery during all Worship Services a
